THE DAILY TAX REPORT

Friday Night — September 18, 2026

Two Official Plays, a 4–1 weekly ledger, and the Long Shot Lounge officially opens for business.

We enter Friday night in a good spot.

Official Plays this week: 4–1
Official Props: 0–1

We’re keeping those records separate. The Josh Allen passing-yard prop missed by only 5.5 yards last night, but Buffalo -5.5 and the Over both cashed, giving us another profitable night.

Tonight, we’re not loading up just because there are games everywhere. After working through college football, Major League Baseball and the WNBA, two positions made the Official card.

🏈 OFFICIAL PLAY #1

MIAMI -20.5 AT WAKE FOREST

This is Miami or pass for us.

We talked about taking Wake Forest and the points. We talked about the total. Neither made enough sense.

Miami did.

The Hurricanes have simply been operating at another level offensively. Darian Mensah has been ridiculously efficient, Malachi Toney gives Miami a legitimate game-breaking receiving threat, and Mark Fletcher Jr. brings the combination of size and speed that makes this offense difficult to defend without committing extra bodies.

And that's the problem for Wake Forest.

Who are you taking away?

Load the box against Fletcher and Miami can attack through the air. Give Toney extra attention and you're creating opportunities elsewhere. And Mensah has barely been putting the football in harm's way.

Wake doesn't have to be terrible for this wager to work. Miami just has to continue playing anywhere near the level we've seen through the opening weeks.

OFFICIAL PLAY: Miami -20.5

Play it at -20.5.

If you still have -20 or -20.5, get it now.

At -21, it's still playable territory for us.

Once it gets to -21.5 or worse, reassess rather than chasing the move.

The market has already shown signs that Miami could climb. We want the number before that happens.

⚾ OFFICIAL PLAY #2

MILWAUKEE BREWERS MONEYLINE

We’re going back to Milwaukee.

The Brewers have already rewarded us once this week, but this isn't a blind repeat. Tonight's matchup against Baltimore gives us another price we're willing to pay.

Milwaukee remains the stronger club, and the current moneyline in approximately the -140 to -150 range gives us a reasonable entry without getting into the ridiculous -200 territory we've avoided throughout the week.

The pitching matchup isn't one where we're claiming Milwaukee has an untouchable ace on the mound. This is more about the complete team, matchup and price working together.

Baltimore can absolutely win the game. That's baseball.

But at this number, we're comfortable backing Milwaukee again.

OFFICIAL PLAY: Milwaukee Brewers ML

Play to -150.

If your book offers something closer to -140, grab the better number.

TONIGHT'S OFFICIAL CARD

🏈 Miami -20.5

⚾ Milwaukee Brewers ML — play to -150

👀 STRONG LEANS

Houston +7.5 at Texas Tech

I still like Houston's defense and I still think +7.5 is the correct side if we're getting involved.

But there's a difference between liking a side and having enough conviction to put it on the Official ledger.

Texas Tech is home, Houston hasn't shown enough offensively for us to love this spot, and there are enough competing factors that we're leaving this one below the line.

Classification: Strong Lean — Houston +7.5

New York Liberty +6.5 at Minnesota

This is the WNBA position that interests us most tonight.

Getting 6.5 points with a team possessing New York's veteran talent is attractive, but after the league's extended interruption we don't need to force a WNBA position onto an already solid card.

Classification: Strong Lean — Liberty +6.5

🍺 THE LONG SHOT LOUNGE

Beer Money Only

Welcome to the newest corner of The Square Tax.

This is not bankroll strategy.

This is not part of the Official record.

This is where we take a tiny amount of beer money, find three ridiculous underdogs, tie them together and see if we can turn pocket change into something stupid.

LONG SHOT LOUNGE — LEG #1

🏈 Portland State +58.5 at Oregon

Yes.

Fifty-eight and a half points.

We don't need Portland State to threaten Oregon. We don't need them within 30.

We need them to survive a spread so massive that backups, garbage time, clock management and one meaningless fourth-quarter touchdown could decide the ticket.

This is exactly what the Long Shot Lounge was built for.

Leg #1: Portland State +58.5

Legs #2 and #3: Coming Saturday

BEER MONEY ONLY. ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY.

If losing the amount you put on this thing would bother you, you're putting too much on it.

🏈 COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING GUIDE

The College Football Betting Guide remains available for $19.99 standalone and is included with Tax Code membership.

The principle remains the same:

Stop betting the logo. Start betting the number.

Whether we're laying 20.5 with Miami or taking nearly 60 with Portland State, the number matters.

No locks. No gimmicks. Just better-informed betting.
