The Handicap Was Right. The Number Got Away.
Saturday went 2–0 and moved the tightened Official Play record to 5–4. Sunday’s board gave us several interesting spots, but nothing survived the final screen at the current numbers.
Morning lines were recorded around 9:30 a.m. ET and rechecked before publication. Lines move. Always shop for the best available number.
🟢 OFFICIAL PLAYS
None
And that’s okay.
We identified a number we liked early in Yankees–Blue Jays Under 7.
The market agreed.
Then it moved.
At 6.5, the wager changed enough that we’re no longer willing to put it on the Official ledger.
That’s exactly why price matters.
🟡 STRONG LEAN
Yankees–Blue Jays UNDER 6.5
New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays
Ryan Weathers and Dylan Cease both enter Sunday pitching extremely well.
Weathers has allowed just two earned runs across his last four starts, while Cease has been one of the stronger strikeout pitchers on the board.
The Yankees offense has also been cold recently.
That combination originally made Under 7 attractive.
The market subsequently pushed the total down to 6.5, confirming the direction of the handicap — but taking away the half-run protection we wanted.
A 4–3 game pushes Under 7.
At 6.5, it loses.
Same matchup.
Different wager.
🟡 STRONG LEAN — PLAYABLE, NOT OFFICIAL
Yankees–Blue Jays Under 6.5
We would have preferred 7.
We’re not pretending 6.5 is the same bet.
🟡 STRONG LEAN
Baltimore Orioles ML +127
Baltimore at Tampa Bay
Baltimore has already taken the first two games of the series and gets another attractive pitching setup Sunday.
Trevor Rogers has been throwing well, while Tampa Bay remains the more expensive side.
Getting Baltimore at plus money keeps this interesting.
The bullpen workload from two tight games keeps it off the Official ledger.
🟡 STRONG LEAN — PLAYABLE, NOT OFFICIAL
Baltimore Orioles ML +127
MLB BOARD NOTES
Cardinals at Cubs
🟡 Lean — Cubs
Chicago remains our preferred side.
The price does not.
At the current moneyline, there isn’t enough separation to make it Official.
Phillies at Twins
🟡 Lean — Philadelphia
There are reasons to prefer Philadelphia, but enough uncertainty in the pitching matchup keeps this below the threshold.
Rockies at Giants
🔴 Pass
Yesterday’s Lorenzen fade cashed easily.
Different starter.
Different handicap.
Yesterday’s winner does not create today’s bet.
Nationals at Mets
🔴 Pass
Nothing in the matchup or price gives us enough edge to force action.
WNBA
Indiana Fever at Atlanta Dream
🟡 Lean — Indiana
Essentially a pick’em-level matchup.
Not enough separation for an Official Play.
Chicago Sky at Seattle Storm
🔴 Pass
Too many injury and availability variables.
Portland Fire at Phoenix Mercury
🟡 Lean — Phoenix
Phoenix is the preferred side.
The spread doesn’t provide enough value to make it Official.
THE RECORD
Tightened Official Play system: 5–4
Saturday:
🟢 Michael Lorenzen O2.5 ER — WIN
🟢 Minnesota Lynx -1 — WIN
Sunday:
No Official Plays
We’re not putting something on the ledger simply because yesterday went 2–0.
If the number disappears, we pass.
FROM THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING GUIDE
Market Movement Is Information — Not Permission to Chase
If you liked a football team at -2.5 and the market moves it to -4, the movement may confirm your original handicap.
It does not mean -4 is automatically still worth betting.
The same thing happened to us today.
We liked Under 7.
The market moved.
At 6.5, the wager became less attractive.
Being right about the direction does not mean you should chase the new number.
BANKROLL REMINDER
Yesterday went 2–0.
Today has zero Official Plays.
That is not a problem.
The goal is not to bet every day.
The goal is to bet when the matchup and the number both make sense.
