The Square Tax – Daily Tax Report

Saturday Early Edition: Stay Disciplined, Trust the Process

Odds current as of publication. Always shop for the best available number. Lines can and will move.

Yesterday's Official Card: 1-1

Arizona Diamondbacks F5 +135
Phillies Team Total Over 4.5 (+110)

Current Week: 7-7
Overall: 21-21 (.500)

The Phillies made a late push with two runs in the ninth but came up one run short. That's baseball. We don't change the process because one ticket loses by a run.

Today gives us a full baseball slate and three WNBA games. We don't need ten bets. We need the right bets.

🟢 Official Play #1

Las Vegas Aces – A'ja Wilson Over 10.5 Rebounds (+105)

This is our favorite WNBA position of the afternoon.

Wilson consistently impacts games on the glass regardless of whether her scoring explodes. At plus money, we're getting paid for a number she has shown she can reach against quality competition.

Rather than laying points in a matchup between two strong teams, we'd rather isolate the player who controls so much of the game's rebounding.

Official Play: A'ja Wilson Over 10.5 Rebounds (+105)

🟢 Official Play #2

Arizona Diamondbacks First Five

We're staying with Arizona until the market tells us otherwise.

The Dodgers remain in poor form, and while the market has begun to adjust, we still believe the value lies in the first five innings instead of asking Arizona's bullpen to protect a lead for nine innings.

When possible, we prefer isolating the strongest part of the handicap.

🟡 Lean

Phillies Team Total Over

Philadelphia continues to generate offense, and this remains a team we'll continue monitoring. Yesterday missed by a single run after a ninth-inning rally, but we aren't chasing yesterday's result.

If the number becomes more attractive during the afternoon, this could move into play.

🔴 Pass

There are several large favorites on today's MLB board.

That doesn't automatically make them bad bets.

It does mean we're not laying -250 or higher unless our handicap says the true price should be significantly higher.

The number matters just as much as the team.

Tax Tip of the Day

Beat the Market, Not Just the Game

One of the biggest edges in sports betting isn't picking more winners.

It's getting a better number than everyone else.

If you bet -6.5 on Monday and the market closes -9, you've already created value before the game even kicks off.

That's why, beginning this football season, The Square Tax will track:

  • Early opening-line value

  • "Play to" numbers

  • Closing-line value

  • Middle opportunities when appropriate

Those are tools professional bettors use every week, and we'll be teaching them all season long.

College Football Betting Guide Preview

The number you bet is often more important than the team you bet.

Imagine you grabbed a favorite at -6.5 on Sunday night.

By Friday, the line has climbed to -8.

If you already hold -6.5, you've beaten the market. An experienced bettor might even evaluate whether taking +8 creates a worthwhile middle, especially because 7 is one of the NFL's most common final margins.

That doesn't mean you should always do it.

It means you now have an option that didn't exist when you made the original wager.

Throughout the guide, we'll explain not only what these opportunities are, but why they matter and when they make sense.

Bankroll Reminder

Every official play remains 1 unit.

No chasing.

No doubling up.

No emotional betting.

Long-term discipline beats short-term excitement.
