SATURDAY COLLEGE FOOTBALL — FREE EDITION
It's a full Saturday of college football, and The Square Tax is back with three free selections, matchup analysis from across the schedule, and another trip into the Longshot Lounge.
We're coming off three consecutive winning Official Plays, including a 2–0 Friday that delivered +2.00 units using our published tracking standard.
Our current Official Play records:
Overall: 38–35 (52.1%)
NFL Season: 16–14 (53.3%)
Our goal remains simple: find value, respect the betting number, and avoid unnecessary wagers.
Today we're giving free subscribers three college football selections. They're separate from our paid Tax Code Official Plays and are not included in our Official record.
FREE PLAY #1
WEST VIRGINIA +10.5 AT TCU
Kickoff: Noon ET
We begin Saturday by taking more than ten points with West Virginia against TCU.
TCU deserves to be favored at home, but we're questioning whether the Horned Frogs should be laying double digits in this matchup.
Why we like West Virginia
West Virginia has the potential to create explosive passing plays and keep pressure on TCU's defense.
The Mountaineers don't need to win outright to cash this ticket. They need to remain competitive and avoid allowing TCU to build a commanding lead.
Getting +10.5 provides some breathing room in a game where one or two possessions could determine the margin.
What concerns us
West Virginia's secondary has been vulnerable, and TCU has the offensive ability to create explosive scoring opportunities.
Turnovers and poor field position could also put the Mountaineers in trouble.
Still, we believe the number gives West Virginia a reasonable chance to stay within the spread.

FREE PLAY #2
TEXAS TECH AT CINCINNATI — OVER 56.5
Kickoff: Noon ET
Our second selection attacks the total in a Big 12 matchup that offers the potential for substantial offensive production.
Both programs have shown the ability to generate points, although their approaches differ.
Why we like the Over
Texas Tech has the offensive talent to produce explosive plays and move the football through multiple phases of its attack.
Cincinnati has also demonstrated scoring ability, and its defense has experienced difficulties preventing opponents from sustaining drives and generating big plays.
We're looking for both teams to contribute rather than relying on one offense to carry the entire total.
A competitive game could also keep both teams aggressive offensively well into the second half.
What concerns us
Texas Tech's run defense could make life difficult for Cincinnati.
If the Bearcats struggle to sustain possessions, scoring opportunities may become limited.
Red-zone inefficiency and lengthy, clock-consuming drives are additional threats to an Over.
Nevertheless, we believe the offensive potential makes 56.5 worth consideration.

FREE PLAY #3
KENTUCKY WILDCATS -10.5 VS. VANDERBILT
Kickoff: 7:30 PM ET
Our evening free selection comes from the SEC, where Kentucky hosts Vanderbilt.
This is a more cautious recommendation than our first two selections. We like Kentucky in this matchup, but we're not suggesting it's a particularly strong edge.
Why we like Kentucky
The Wildcats have home-field advantage against a Vanderbilt team that has struggled to produce consistent results.
Kentucky has an opportunity to establish control through physical play, favorable field position, and sustained offensive possessions.
If the Wildcats can build an early lead, Vanderbilt could be forced to become more aggressive offensively, creating additional opportunities for Kentucky's defense.
What concerns us
Vanderbilt is capable of making this a competitive football game.
And laying 10.5 points means Kentucky must win by at least 11 to cover.
A comfortable Kentucky victory doesn't necessarily guarantee a winning wager.
We see enough to take Kentucky at the listed number, but this is a lower-confidence free selection.

THE LONGSHOT LOUNGE
THREE-TEAM UNDERDOG MONEYLINE PARLAY
FOR BEER MONEY ONLY — NOT AN OFFICIAL PLAY
Welcome back to the Longshot Lounge, where we occasionally take a shot at an unlikely outcome for entertainment purposes.
Today's speculative ticket consists of three underdogs:
RUTGERS MONEYLINE
TEXAS A&M MONEYLINE
MICHIGAN STATE MONEYLINE
All three teams must win their games outright for the parlay to cash.
This is considerably more aggressive than taking points with the underdogs. Each selection requires an outright upset.
The potential payout could be substantial, but so is the risk of losing the entire stake.
Our suggestion: a small, affordable entertainment wager only. Five or ten dollars is plenty for anyone choosing to participate.
No locks. No guarantees. Just a little Saturday football fun.
Actual odds and payout depend on the sportsbook.
The Longshot Lounge is not an Official Play and is excluded from our Official record, units, and ROI.
SATURDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL WATCH
The later college football schedule also provides several interesting matchups worth watching.
COLORADO AT OKLAHOMA STATE
Oklahoma State is a sizable home favorite, laying approximately 13.5 points on our board.
The main question is whether Colorado can create enough explosive offense to keep the game competitive.
The Cowboys have the opportunity to control the game through field position and sustained drives, but a large spread always introduces the possibility of a late backdoor cover.
Classification: PASS
IOWA STATE AT ARIZONA
Arizona is favored by approximately 10.5 to 11.5 points.
Iowa State's challenge is to prevent Arizona from taking control early and turning this into a game played entirely on the Wildcats' terms.
For Arizona, offensive efficiency and limiting turnovers will be especially important.
This is an interesting matchup, but we aren't recommending a wager at the posted number.
Classification: PASS
UTAH STATE AT TEXAS STATE
Texas State is laying approximately 13.5 points.
With a total in the mid-50s, the market expects scoring opportunities, but that doesn't necessarily translate into an attractive wager.
We're passing rather than forcing a selection.
Classification: PASS
UTSA AT TULANE
UTSA is favored by approximately 2.5 to 3 points.
This is an interesting short spread in which execution on third down, field position, and turnovers could decide the outcome.
With the number near a field goal, price sensitivity matters.
Classification: PASS
ABOUT OUR UNIT SYSTEM
At The Square Tax, we use $100 as our standard reference unit for performance tracking.
For example, at -110 odds, our reporting convention is to risk $110 to target a $100 profit.
That does not mean subscribers should bet $100 per play.
Your personal unit should reflect your own bankroll, financial circumstances, and comfort with risk.
For some readers, one unit might be $5, $10, or $20. There is absolutely no requirement to follow our dollar amounts.
We report our results consistently so readers can evaluate performance. Everyone is responsible for choosing their own stake, and no wager should involve money needed for everyday expenses.
