Saturday was one of those days every bettor eventually runs into. Nothing went our way, and the Official card took the damage.

No excuses and no chasing.

A new board means a new evaluation. We’re keeping this first Sunday report deliberately small and coming back later with a second edition after we’ve had additional time to work through the college-football slate.

Milwaukee is the one early position that cleared the bar.

The Brewers enter at 88-54 and have been the substantially better club over the full season. Kyle Harrison gets the ball at 10-4 with a 3.45 ERA, while Cincinnati counters with Brady Singer at 5-13 with a 4.83 ERA.

Harrison does come with a legitimate warning: his last outing was a disaster, allowing nine runs against Chicago. We aren't ignoring it. But one ugly start doesn't erase the larger body of work, and the matchup on the other side remains favorable.

Singer struggled through August and is coming off another difficult outing. Milwaukee also has Christian Yelich back near the top of today's lineup.

The market has reinforced the initial handicap. Milwaukee opened in the mid--150s in the broader market and is now trading around the -160 neighborhood at several books. Anyone who found the substantially cheaper number earlier captured excellent value.

This isn't about blindly backing the better record. It's the combination of team quality, starting-pitching advantage, lineup, matchup and a market moving in the same direction.

If your book is materially beyond -160, don't chase it.

There are several games beginning shortly after 1 p.m. that deserve attention, but none needed to be forced into this first release.

Braves-Phillies, Angels-Pirates, Tigers-Guardians and the remainder of the afternoon board are still being evaluated. If another position earns Official status, it will appear in today's second report.

That's intentional.

After a difficult Saturday, the answer isn't more bets. It's better bets.

We're taking additional time with today's football card.

Notre Dame-Wisconsin, Washington-Washington State and Ole Miss-Louisville are among the games receiving our closest attention. Nothing is being upgraded simply because we had an initial opinion.

Yesterday reinforced exactly why the final step of the process matters: challenge the handicap, look for reasons we're wrong, check the market again, and only then decide whether something deserves Official status.
